SNA is drafting a response to today’s USDA Fact Sheet on HHFKA Implementation.  To help flesh out our “Myths vs. Truths” flyer, could you please provide any data that will helpful refute any of these points, especially the bullet point listed below?  Any data on cost increases, revenue losses, etc will help us better make our case.  Even partial data helps – how much your produce bill has gone up, your per meal cost, anticipated deficits, etc.  Thanks for anything you can send!

School lunch revenue is up. Despite concerns raised about the impact of new standards on participation and costs, a USDA analysis suggests that in the first year of implementing updated meal patterns, schools saw a net nationwide increase in revenue from school lunches of approximately $200 million. This includes the annual reimbursement rate adjustments, as well as increased revenue from paid meals and the additional 6 cents per meal for schools meeting the new meal standards.

Also, as you might know, USDA released updated meal flexibility on whole grain pasta today.  The USDA press release is contained within SNA’s response.
